O'Sullivan in car crash after Crucible defeat

Ronnie O'Sullivan and his six-year-old son were involved in a car crash as they travelled back from his World Championship final defeat in Sheffield on Monday.

'The Rocket' fell short in his attempts to win the Crucible title for the third year in a row, and sixth time overall, as Mark Selby recorded an 18-14 victory.

O'Sullivan and Ronnie Jr were both unhurt in the accident, which happened on the M1 near Leicester at roughly 1.30am on Tuesday morning, while the 38-year-old was driving his Audi R8 sports car.

BBC Sport reports that they were left "shaken" after freeing themselves from the wreckage.

Weather conditions were apparently poor at the time as O'Sullivan made his way back to his Essex home.
