British singer Olly Murs has been named as an ambassador for the Football Association as part of the governing body's 150th anniversary.

The 28-year-old, who came second in The X Factor in 2010, will take part in a number of activities, which are due to be carried out at events all over the country to mark the anniversary.

"I'm delighted be an official ambassador for The Football Association for its 150th anniversary year," The Sun quotes Murs as saying.

"I'm a huge football fan and will be involved in FA events and initiatives over the course of this year. In particular, I want to help to showcase the amazing work The FA does at the grassroots level of the game."

The FA have also created a badge made up of various images from the most significant moments in the English game.
