NBC to broadcast Aviva Premiership in US

Aviva Premiership agrees a three-year rights deal with US broadcaster NBC.

The Aviva Premiership has announced a three-year rights deal with US broadcaster NBC.

Under the arrangement, the NBC Sports Network will show 24 games per season live, with an additional 50 games per season available through its digital service.

"This new agreement with NBC Sports Group is a historic milestone for us," said Mark McCafferty, chief executive at Premiership Rugby. "It takes the Aviva Premiership Rugby brand to a bigger audience than we have ever had in the US.

"In signing this deal, NBC Sports Group has bought into the on-field drama of rugby union and plans to work with us to deliver the compelling stories and personalities of English club rugby to the widest possible audience."

The first game to be broadcast on NBC as part of the deal will be this weekend's game between London Irish and Saracens at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, the first ever Aviva Premiership match to take place on US soil.
