Two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray 'excited' about becoming a father

Murray 'excited' about becoming a father

Former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has admitted that he is "extremely happy" about the news that his wife Kim Sears is pregnant with the couple's first baby.

The 28-year-old, who married his long-term partner in April, has no concerns that having a child will affect his tennis career.

"I'm more concerned about the baby being healthy," Murray told reporters. "We're both extremely happy and feel very lucky. It's very exciting news, but it's also private news.

"There's stuff we want to keep close to our friends and family and I hope that everybody can respect that."

Murray was speaking in Montreal ahead of this week's Rogers Cup, in which he is seeded second.

The couple's baby is reportedly due in February.
