Andy Murray engaged to girlfriend of nine years Kim Sears

Two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray is engaged to his girlfriend of nine years Kim Sears, the tennis star's agent has confirmed.

The 27-year-old has regularly been asked about marriage, but the Scotsman and his Sussex-born other half have kept their relationship private.

It is believed that world number six Murray proposed to Kim, who is the daughter of former Lawn Tennis Association head of women's tennis Nigel Sears, last Wednesday.

The couple met one another back in 2005 at the US Open.
