Fabrice Muamba celebrates wedding seven months after cardiac arrest

Muamba: 'Marriage was my happy ending'

Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has claimed that getting married to his girlfriend Shauna Magunda was the "happy ending" to a year that involved the 24-year-old 'dying' for 78 minutes.

Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup clash between Bolton and Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane last season.

Following Muamba's miraculous recovery, the decision was made for the former England Under-21 international to retire from the game.

"This year has been a difficult one but, to me, marriage is the happy ending," Muamba told Hello! magazine.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie was one of many professionals that attended the wedding last week.
