Morocco deny bribery allegations

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has dismissed allegations that the country bribed a FIFA executive during their bid to stage the 1998 World Cup.

Former CONCACAF official Chuck Blazer recently testified that bribes were paid in relation to winning the right to stage the tournament, which was hosted by France.

In addition, US court documents reportedly contained allegations that Morocco had a made a payment to former FIFA vice-chairman Jack Warner, but the FRMF has released a statement denying any wrongdoing.

The statement read: "Morocco denies categorically these slanderous accusations against the officials of the country's organising committee of the 1998 World Cup.

"Regarding its efforts ... Morocco deserved better treatment instead of tendentious and unfounded rumours."

Swiss prosecutors are also investigating the bidding process, which led to Russia winning the race the stage the 2018 World Cup and Qatar hosting the event in 2022.
