Piers Morgan confirms paying for Paul Gascoigne treatment

Morgan confirms Gascoigne help

British TV host Piers Morgan has revealed that he has paid for part of England legend Paul Gascoigne's treatment for alcoholism in the United States.

The 45-year-old was sent to a rehab facility in Arizona after he began drinking again following years of battling alcohol and drug addiction.

Reports had claimed that Morgan was asked by DJ Chris Evans, who is a friend of Gascoigne, to help fund the £6,000-a-week treatment at the American facility.

Morgan wrote on Twitter: "Re Gazza, he's done me a few favours over the years, it was time to repay them. Hope it works. Down to him now."

Former England international Gary Lineker is also thought to have contributed to the fee.
