Former European light-middleweight champion Jamie Moore has admitted that he felt "helpless and lonely" after he was shot twice in Marbella in August.
The 35-year-old was attacked during his stay in the Spanish town while training Birmingham fighter Matthew Macklin.
The Salford-born sportsman, who was left for dead after the attack, suffered injuries to his hip bone and leg.
Moore told The Guardian: "I thought, 'I'm not going to make this'. I thought I was finished and it's the emptiest, most horrible feeling ever. I felt helpless and lonely – lying on a driveway at night bleeding to death. I thought, 'I can't die here, how am I going to leave my kids with no dad?'"
Moore is father to a son and daughter.
