Minister for Sport: 'Richard Scudamore's sexist comments unacceptable'

Minister slams Scudamore for sexist comments

Minister for Sport and Equalities Helen Grant has described sexist comments made by Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore as "unacceptable and disappointing".

Scudamore apologised on Sunday after The Mirror revealed that he had sent numerous emails containing sexist slurs to colleagues.

"I found the content of emails completely unacceptable and very disappointing, particularly at a time when there is so much good work and progress being made promoting women's sport," BBC Sport quotes Grant as saying.

"I am determined to do all I can to help tackle all forms of discrimination in sport. There is absolutely no place for it and all of us working in sport need to pull together on the issue. There is no room for complacency."

The 54-year-old admitted that he made an "error of judgement" when writing the remarks.
