The San Mateo County District Attorney says that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will not be charged in relation to an incident on a plane last month.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has avoided charges for his part in an incident on a plane last month.

In a video obtained by TMZ, a passenger approached Tyson in the hope of a chat and autograph, only for the boxing legend seeming to be against any interaction.

When the passenger continued the exchange, Tyson was seen to throw several punches, and was subsequently spoken to by police once the flight had landed.

However, on Tuesday, San Mateo County (California) District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said that no charges would be filed against Tyson.

Wagstaffe said: "We have reviewed the police reports of the San Francisco Police Department and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and have viewed the various videos collected by law enforcement from others on the airplane. Our decision is that we will not file any charges against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.

"These include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case."

Tyson enjoyed a well-documented career between 1985 and 2005, winning 50 of his 58 contests.
