Number one golfer Rory McIlroy 'earns £42,000 a day'

World number one golfer Rory McIlroy is reportedly earning £42,000 per day in sponsorship deals.

The Northern Irishman, who recently won back-to-back Majors at the British Open and US PGA Championship, has a £15m-a-year deal with global sportswear brand Nike.

According to the Daily Star, along with his Nike partnership, the 25-year-old earned £12m in the last year from numerous other deals.

The sportsman, who is said to have pocketed almost £3m from his last three tournaments, has racked up £20m since he turned professional back in 2007.
