Diego Maradona named chairman of Belarusian club

Diego Maradona is unveiled as the new chairman of Dinamo Brest, who are currently down in eighth place in the Belarusian Premier League.

Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has been appointed as chairman of obscure Belarusian club Dinamo Brest.

The 57-year-old, who stood down as manager of United Arab Emirates outfit Al Fujairah last month, will begin his new position after the World Cup.

Maradona has signed a three-year deal with Brest and is tasked with "dealing with strategic development of the club".

One-time Belarusian Premier League winners Dinamo are currently eighth in the league and through to the Belarusian Cup final, where they will meet BATE Borisov next weekend.
