Derek Llambias, Barry Leach 'to leave Rangers board'

Llambias, Leach 'to leave Rangers board'

Two of Mike Ashley's connections at Rangers are set to be ousted from the club's board, according to a report.

Since Ashley offered emergency loans to Rangers, the appointments of Llambias and Leach have been met with opposition from South Africa-based businessman Dave King, who is unhappy at the running of the Scottish Championship outfit.

According to the Daily Mail, chairman David Somers is expected to announce his resignation to the London Stock Exchange on Monday morning, with King now believed to have enough votes among shareholders to overhaul the current regime before Friday's EGM.

It is thought that King will look to sack chief executive Llambias and finance officer Leach, whatever the cost. Llambias and Leach were recently awarded lucrative contracts, which are said to include lengthy notice periods.

Rangers are currently third in the Championship after failing to beat Falkirk on Friday evening.
