Gary Lineker and wife Danielle divorce after six years of marriage

Former England international Gary Lineker and wife Danielle have divorced after six years of marriage.

The 55-year-old Match of the Day host tied the knot with the actress in Italy in 2009, two years after they began dating.

On Wednesday, Lineker tweeted: "Thank you all for your kind words. @DanielleBux and I had many wonderful years together. We remain very close and the greatest of friends."

According to The Sun, the couple split because 36-year-old Danielle, who is the mother to a teenage daughter, wanted a child with the ex-footballer but Lineker felt that he was too old to have another child.

The former Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur striker is already father to four children.
