Frank Lampard to feature in British history series

Frank Lampard will feature as a narrator on a new series charting the last 2,000 years of British history.

The Chelsea veteran, 34, will share his "unique insights" on how British developments through the ages have shaped modern society.

"For me, in modern Britain what we have to do is remind ourselves of our history," said Lampard, "and try to live up to the standards that the great people who have fought wars for us and what they've given us in the past."

Lampard is joined on the show by fellow sports personalities Colin Jackson, Gareth Thomas and Lennox Lewis, as well as celebrities such as Helen Mirren, Russell Brand and Michael Portillo.

Sky Atlantic's The British begins on September 6.
