King sentenced to 18 months in jail

Former Premier League footballer Marlon King has been sentenced to 18 months in jail for dangerous driving.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, which resulted in a three-car crash near Newark in April last year, at Nottingham Crown Court.

The ex-Birmingham City striker is alleged to have been driving a Porsche Panamera on the A46 when he caused the accident, during which a motorist suffering a broken arm.

The court heard today that King, who has also been handed a three-year driving ban, was eating an ice cream at the wheel when the incident occurred.

King was released by Sheffield United in December last year.
