Jordan banned from golf club

Basketball star Michael Jordan has been asked not to return to an exclusive country club in Miami, Florida after not abiding by the club's dress code.

The 49-year-old, who has six NBA championship rings, is believed to have been told by La Gorce Country Club staff to leave the course midway through a game because he was not wearing a tucked-in collared shirt and Bermuda shorts.

"I've been there many times and no one told me a thing," Jordan told ESPN Chicago by text message. "Then all of a sudden they come to me on the 11th hole and say I can't wear cargo shorts. Wow! The round is almost over and you want me to buy shorts now? Yeah, right!!"

Jordan retired from basketball in 2003.
