Aaron Hernandez looses murder charge appeal

Ex-NFL player Aaron Hernandez fails to convince Bristol County Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh to overturn his murder charge for the killing of Odin Lloyd in 2013.

Former NFL player Aaron Hernandez has lost a bid to have his murder charge overturned.

The ex-New England Patriots tight end was found guilty of killing Odin Lloyd in 2013, but his attorney made a plea to Bristol County Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh to reverse the jury's decision.

However, she wrote in the Hartford Courant: "Considering the evidence in the light most favourable to the Commonwealth (Hernandez), the court finds that a rational jury could find that the Commonwealth proved every essential element of the crimes charged in counts one and two beyond a reasonable doubt."

The 25-year-old was sentenced to life imprisonment in April.
