Goodes accuses girl of racist abuse

Australian Rules footballer Adam Goodes has accused a 13-year-old girl of racially abusing him during a match.

The 33-year-old Sydney Swans forward had the teenager, who was supporting opposing side Collingwood, escorted out of the Melbourne Cricket Ground for allegedly calling him an 'ape'.

"To come to the boundary line and hear a 13-year-old girl call me an 'ape', and it's not the first time on a footy field that I've been referred to as a 'monkey' or an 'ape'," Goodes told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "It was shattering."

Reports have claimed that police in Melbourne questioned the girl following the incident but has since been released pending further inquiries.
