Paul Gascoigne is spotted drinking a pint of beer ahead of his stint in a US rehab facility for alcoholism.

England legend Paul Gascoigne was reportedly spotted drinking a pint of beer ahead of his scheduled stint in a rehab facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

The 45-year-old, who has had previous problems with alcohol and drugs, arrived with a friend at the airport in the US following an 11-hour flight from Britain and made his way to the bar.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder sat in a chair in the Chelsea's Kitchen bar and restaurant drinking a pint of beer after his friend left momentarily.

"Paul was shaking so much and looked desperately sick," a witness told The Sun. "It was very upsetting seeing him in the bar. His mate left him alone for one minute and he managed to order a beer.

"When his friend came back he took the pint and scooped him up and out of the bar. Let's hope he gets the treatment he needs."

DJ Chris Evans, TV host Piers Morgan and ex-England international Gary Lineker are thought to be paying for Gascoigne's treatment.
