Former WWE star becomes Marvel writer

Retired WWE wrestler CM Punk has announced that he has joined Marvel Comics to work as a writer.

The 36-year-old, whose real name is Phil Brooks, retired from wrestling earlier this year, 15 years after making his WWE debut.

He told Marvel.com: "I think it helps that I picked [an] artist who I was already friends with (Rob Guillory), and can speak freely to. I think he'll get it, you know what I mean?

"I think the emails that we've sent back and forth now regarding the story, you could probably print. I just think they're entertaining. 'Hey, what if we do this?' and it turns into the next big email chain. It's hilarious."

CM Punk is currently working on a storyline for the Thor Annual, which is due to be released in February.
