Ex-England cricketer Andrew Flintoff: 'I quit alcohol to deal with depression'

Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff reveals that he quit drinking alcohol in order to deal with depression.

Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has revealed that he no longer drinks alcohol due to his battle with depression.

The 37-year-old was widely known for his love of a drink during his England playing days, but has admitted during his time in the Australian version of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here that he's "had enough" of booze.

During a recent episode of the reality show, Flintoff told his campmates: "I genuinely thought I had enough of it. I suffer with depression and it doesn't help at all, [you] just hit rock bottom afterwards.

"Life's so much easier with not having any - the things that tend to go wrong are drink fuelled."

Flintoff also revealed that he realised that he suffered with mental illness while working on a documentary about depression in sport.
