Tennis star Roger Federer flies to Malawi in Africa to carry out charity work with disadvantaged children.

Seventeen-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has flown out to Africa to do some charity work for underprivileged children.

The 33-year-old headed to Malawi with his Roger Federer Foundation to help better the standard of life for people by improving education.

On Twitter, Federer wrote: "Excited to be visiting Malawi, the warm heart of Africa, for the first time with the Roger Federer Foundation. Exciting to see the impact of our early learning initiative in Malawi.

"Early education is the foundation of all learning. I feel grateful to be able to share time with these amazing kids."

Federer has been having some time away from the court after losing to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final a fortnight ago.
