Fans 'injured during Beckham appearance'
Seven people are reportedly injured following a stampede of fans trying to get close to David Beckham at a Chinese university.

Seven people were reportedly left injured following a surge of fans trying to get close to recently-retired footballer David Beckham in China.

The ex-Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder, who is currently in the country to help promote the Chinese Super League, was met with over 1,000 fans when he attended the Tongji University in Shanghai.

It is believed that a hoard of people pushed through police lines, leaving officers on the ground, one being carried away injured, while seven people sustained injuries, according to the Daily Star.

Beckham later wrote on his Facebook page wishing those injured a "speedy recovery".
