Football Association donates to Jimmy Greaves appeal

The Football Association pledges financial support to a campaign aiming to fund physiotherapy for stroke victim Jimmy Greaves.

The Football Association has donated funds to an appeal aiming to help former England striker Jimmy Greaves recover from a stroke.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur star suffered a severe stroke in May and did not leave hospital until the following month.

His agent is trying to raise £30,000 to pay for the 500 hours of physiotherapy he requires.

Spurs have already made a contribution, and now the FA has agreed to provide additional funding.

"The FA are aware of the campaign. [Chairman] Greg Dyke has made a discretionary contribution to that," said an FA spokesperson.

The governing body is believed to have donated a four-figure sum, according to PA.
