Former cruiserweight champion O'Neill Bell has been shot dead during an attempted robbery in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Jamaican 41-year-old, who previously held the WBA, WBC and IBF cruiserweight titles, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Daily Star, two men approached him and another man after they stepped off a bus, and shots were fired as Bell and the other individual tried to fight them off.
It has been reported that the former boxer, who did not know the other victim, was killed by a gunshot and later stabbed, while the other man was shot in the hip.
Bell, who retired from boxing in 2011, recorded 27 wins, four defeats and one draw during his 13-year boxing career.
