Emirates airline have announced that they have secured a five-year sponsorship deal with Formula 1.

The Dubai government-owned airline has come to an agreement with chief Bernie Ecclestone to display their brand on F1 circuit bridges, in team paddocks and around race courses visited throughout the season.

Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum said: "Emirates will become the global partner with Formula 1 beginning in 2013. We are looking at sponsorship of more sports in the future if we feel this will promote Dubai and promote Emirates."

The deal, which is thought to be worth £6.3m, is the latest in a string of sponsorships that Emirates are involved in, including European football clubs AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Premier League outfit Arsenal.
