Port Talbot Town's Daniel Thomas fined for sending homophobic message to Tom Daley

Daley's Twitter abuser fined

Port Talbot Town midfielder Daniel Thomas has been fined £500 and handed a one-match suspension for sending abusive messages to Olympic diver Tom Daley.

The 28-year-old was cleared of any charges by police after tweeting a homophobic message relating to the 18-year-old and his diving partner Peter Waterfield earlier this year.

The Football Association of Wales have taken their own action and decided to hit the player with a suspension and fine after it was deemed that his tweet was likely to bring the game into disrepute.

A Port Talbot Town spokesman said: "The club accepts what the FAW has said. We don't have any further comment to make."

The message was sent on the social network site on July 30.
