Tom Daley tries sand-boarding, quad biking in Abu Dhabi

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley returns from an action-packed holiday in Abu Dhabi following his success at the Junior World Championships in Adelaide.

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley has returned to the UK from a break in Abu Dhabi, where the diver tried his hand at sand-boarding, camel riding and quad biking.

The 18-year-old took a brief holiday following his gold medal-winning performance in the 10m platform at the Junior World Championships in Adelaide.

"I'd never ridden a camel before so that was amazing," The Mirror quotes Daley as saying. "Sand-boarding is unlike anything I have ever tried and driving through the dunes in a 4x4 was so much fun.

"There was a sensible way in but I wanted to take a crazy route that weaved up and down these unbelievably steep slopes. What a choice that was!

"The quads were brilliant too and the perfect way to get up and down the dunes. I always thought the desert would be harsh, but it's like a never-ending playground!"

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Daley and Peter Waterfield will remain partners until the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
