Tom Daley 'dating Oscar-winning director'

Tom Daley is reportedly dating Oscar-winning writer and gay rights activist Dustin Lance Black.

In a video message posted to YouTube yesterday, the 19-year-old Olympic diver revealed that he has been dating a man he met earlier this year, telling fans: "I couldn't be happier. Right now I feel safe and it really does feel right."

According to The Sun, Daley's boyfriend is 39-year-old writer Black, whose credits include Milk, Pedro, 8 and J. Edgar.

Black picked up an Academy Award for penning the screenplay for Milk, the 2008 film based on the real story of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man voted into public office in California.

Since his announcement, Daley has received messages of support from key figures in sport and showbiz, including Gary Lineker, Sir Matthew Pinsent and Stephen Fry.
