Former Warwickshire cricketer Tom Allin took his own life when he plunged to his death from a bridge in Devon six months ago, a coroner has concluded.
The 28-year-old's body was found on January 4 at the base of the Torridge Bridge in Bideford.
An inquest at North Devon Civic Centre heard that passing motorists spotted Allin's body and tried to administer first aid, but to no avail.
It was claimed that Allin's mood was "up and down" in early December during his recovery from a serious car accident, in which the sportsman was cut from his vehicle.
According to BBC News, Allin's parents Tony and Beverley revealed that life became "tough" for their son from last October when his brother became seriously ill.
Senior coroner for Exeter and Greater Devon Dr Elizabeth Earland concluded that the death was a suicide, stating that Allin "was the architect of his own demise and he clearly intended the consequences of what he did".
Allin died from "devastating non-survivable injuries", and there were no drugs or alcohol found in his body during the post-mortem exam.
Three suicide notes to Allin's family and friends were found at his home by Devon and Cornwall Police.
