Twenty-one Championship clubs back a campaign to install safe-standing areas at football grounds in England.

Twenty-one Championship clubs have reportedly given their backing to allow safe-standing areas in football grounds.

A ruling to make stadia across the country all-seating was enforced following the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, which resulted in the death of 96 Liverpool fans who were crushed to death following a surge of bodies in a standing area.

An overwhelming number of clubs in the second tier of English football have given safe-standing sections the green light, but it is unlikely to force a change in the law, according to BBC Sport.

The Football Supporters' Federation are said to have sent representatives to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund last weekend to observe their standing areas.
