Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player Daniel Gibson has turned himself into police in New Orlean's following an alleged brawl in a nightclub.

The 27-year-old has been dealt with a second-degree battery charge after he was accused of punching a man at a nightclub during the Essence Music Festival.

"Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife," Gibson said in a statement published by TMZ.

"It's unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved. Once all the facts of the incident come out, I expect to be fully vindicated."

Gibson has a three-year-old son Daniel Jr with wife Keyshia Cole.
