Cannavaro 'investigated for tax fraud'

Italy World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro is reportedly being investigated by the country's financial police over suspected tax fraud.

The 41-year-old, who guided Italy to World Cup glory as captain back in 2006, is believed to have had assets worth £711,000 seized by the authorities.

According to news agency AFP, the sum is related to an investigation looking into a luxury boat rental business that the former defender ran with his wife.

In the summer, Cannavaro carried out punditry duties for the World Cup in Brazil with ITV.
