Sol Campbell continues to criticise Labour's proposed mansion tax

Former England and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has continued to hit out at Labour's proposed mansion tax, which they intend to implement if party leader Ed Miliband is elected prime minister in the general election.

The political party have proposed to introduce an annual charge to owners with properties worth more than £2m.

Campbell, who is a supporter of the Conservatives, has been outspoken with his views against the potential new law.

In an interview with The Guardian, the retired footballer said: "Solid money for a solid problem. I want that in there. Labour is basing this problem on - 'I want money for that because I want to put it into the NHS.' Fine, but you are basing it on something that can go up or down.

"I haven't forgotten my roots. I've given you a proper alternative - solid money. Change the council tax. Why are you taxing people who are prudent?"

The 40-year-old recently put two of his London properties up for sale.
