BT Sport announces that it has agreed a new contract over the rights to show Ligue 1 football.

BT Sport has announced that it has agreed a new three-year contract over its coverage of French football.

The broadcaster has recently lost the rights to show Serie A to Eleven Sports, but this deal has reaffirmed its commitment to showing Ligue 1 and the Coupe de la Ligue.

Andy Haworth, managing director of strategy and content, BT Consumer, said: "We're delighted to continue as the home of Ligue 1 Conforama until 2021 and we look forward to bringing our viewers comprehensive coverage of all the action from France, with live matches every weekend on TV and mobile via our award winning BT Sport App."

The deal enables BT Sport to broadcast as many as five different league fixtures each weekend, with Paris Saint-Germain likely to feature heavily after winning the title last season.

The new campaign started last week, with PSG, Monaco, Marseille and Lyon all prevailing in their opening fixtures.
