BT launch sporting charity The Supporters Club

BT Sport set up The Supporters Club charity, which works alongside Comic Relief to help disadvantaged young people in the UK and abroad.

BT have announced that BT Sport customers can donate money towards new charity The Supporters Club.

The initiative has been set up alongside Comic Relief, who will use the money to provide mentors, teachers and coaches to disadvantaged young people in the UK and overseas.

Customers, who will witness 38 live Premier League games on the new channel next season, can make a donation of £1, £3 or £5 via their bill.

"We believe that The Supporters Club is a great way to unite BT and sporting clubs and bodies around an important cause to help young, disadvantaged people," said managing director of BT Retail Consumer John Petter.

"Sport can be a powerful force for good in society and we think that the launch of BT Sport gives us an opportunity to raise extra funds which will make a huge difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people and help them to reach their goals. We are thrilled that a charity with the credibility and track record of Comic Relief will be managing the fund."

BT Sport will be available for free to all BT broadband customers.
