Brazilian footballer attacked by police dog during match

Brazilian footballer Joao Paulo was reportedly in need of hospital treatment after he was attacked by a police dog during a match.

The Democrata striker fell down behind the goal and was then bitten by the animal, but Paulo decided to play on through his side's championship match against Tupi with protection covering the wound.

According to the Daily Star, the striker was taken to hospital and given anti-rabies vaccine after the match.

Paulo's recovery is said to be going well.
