British National Party make Michael Schumacher jibe

The British National Party makes light of Michael Schumacher's skiing accident, saying that he would want to swap places with bankrupt BNP leader Nick Griffin.

The British National Party have made a jibe about Michael Schumacher's current condition after its leader was declared bankrupt.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion is in a stable but critical condition in hospital in France after sustaining a life-threatening head injury while skiing.

When asked about Nick Griffin's financial status, press officer Simon Darby told The Independent: "Look at it this way, Michael Schumacher has millions in the bank, but he'd do anything to be in Nick's position now wouldn't he."

Fans of Schumacher have been wearing red outside the hospital where he is being treated to mark his 45th birthday today, five days after the accident.
