Bidder pays £2,550 for a meal with ex-England player Gary Lineker

A person has successfully bid £2,550 to go out to dinner with former England footballer Gary Lineker.

The 53-year-old, who currently hosts BBC highlights show Match of the Day, placed the 'prize' on eBay with the aim of raising money for the national male cancer awareness campaign Skyballs.

According to the Leicester Mercury, the person, who is based in Daventry, claimed the prize above 13 other bidders, and will be taken to London eatery Bird of Smithfield.

The meal is for 10 people.
