David Beckham meets injured soldiers at Birmingham hospital

Beckham visits military ward

Former Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham paid a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to speak to injured soldiers.

The 37-year-old, who was joined by Ray Winstone, chatted and posed for photos with the servicemen in the military ward for just under two hours.

"Both stars were made very welcome during their trip and it was extremely well-received," The Mirror quotes a source as saying.

"Nevertheless it is always an amazing experience to witness just how brave these patients are. Throughout the visit it was clear that both David and Ray knew that the real stars of the day were the military people who have sacrificed so much."

The pair also spent time with patients in the Teenage Cancer Trust's Young Persons' Unit.
