Beckham: 'I wanted to be a painter'

Retired footballer David Beckham has revealed that he would have pursued his 'passion' of painting had he not become a sportsman.

The 38-year-old called time on his playing career in the summer following stints at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to the Daily Mail, when asked about his favourite subject at school, Beckham said: "Art and design was always something that I loved, that I looked forward to.

"Because I love drawing, I love painting, it was actually something that I was really passionate about and I think if I hadn't have become a football player I'd have gone into that."

Beckham was recently named as an ambassador for new initiative the Sky Academy.
