Baboons trash Chris Froome's apartment

Team Sky cyclist Chris Froome reveals that baboons ate his fruit and energy gels after breaking into his South Africa apartment.

Chris Froome has revealed that the apartment that he has been renting in South Africa was recently "trashed" when baboons managed to break in.

The 2013 Tour de France winner was training in South Africa over the winter, and returned from one ride to discover that the animals had found a way into the building.

The 29-year-old Team Sky rider told the Daily Mail: "They really trashed the place this time. They are so intelligent. They worked out how to open the latch on the door. And they've come in and opened the fridge, opened the bin, just gone through everything.

"All the fruit that we were using to make smoothies was gone. They nailed that. And all our nuts and stuff. They demolished that. And they loved the gels, they went through a whole box of gels. There must have been some seriously wired baboons running around."

Froome started the 2015 season with a win in the Ruta del Sol in Spain last month.
