Lance Armstrong 'makes girlfriend take blame for car accident'

Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong reportedly allowed his girlfriend to take the blame for a recent car accident, despite being behind the wheel himself.

The American sportsman, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles in 2012 due to doping offences, hit two parked cars in Aspen, Colorado on December 28.

Police have confirmed that Armstrong's girlfriend Anna Hansen eventually admitted that she took the blame in order to save her other half from the media scrutiny, according to The Guardian.

Armstrong has been charged after he allegedly fled the scene.
