Ackerman's parents 'console son's tackler'

The parents of James Ackerman have consoled the rugby league player who tackled their son seconds before he collapsed with a head injury.

The 25-year-old died in hospital on Monday, two days after suffering the injuries during a Queensland Cup game for the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

Francis Molo, who was playing for Saturday's opponents North Devils, has reportedly been receiving counselling following his tackle on Ackerman.

According to Courier Mail, Ackerman's father Michael spoke to 20-year-old Molo on the phone to find out how the youngster was doing after hearing that he was undergoing counselling.

Ackerman leaves behind a wife and two children - Olliver and Milly.
