Olympics coverage gets BAFTA nomination

Olympics get BAFTA nod

The Olympics opening ceremony has been nominated for an award at the TV BAFTAs following the coverage from last summer.

The London 2012 Games have received plenty of plaudits for the off-track coverage as well as the medal-haul from Team GB.

Film director Danny Boyle could pick up a gong on behalf of the opening ceremony, which he created to mark the start of the Games.

The ceremony has been nominated alongside the Paralympic Games, Super Saturday and the Wimbledon Men's Final in the Sport and Live Event category.
