Liverpool fans 'punished for mass brawl'

Two Liverpool supporters have reportedly been given suspended sentences for getting involved in a fight with Manchester City fans at a train station.

A brawl broke about between 15 football fans at Lime Street station on Merseyside following Liverpool's 3-2 victory over City at Anfield last season.

CCTV footage of the incident showed Liverpool fans Stephen Foster and Stephen Jeffers headbutting a City supporter after bumping into him at the station.

After the initial scrap, City fans Paul Knight and Waine Hamilton appeared to intervene before more supporters got involved in the altercation.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Mr Foster was handed a 12-month sentence behind bars, suspended for two years, while Mr Jeffers was given a nine-month suspended sentence for two years at Liverpool Crown Court.

The fight occurred on April 13.
