David Beckham to appear on new Matthew Perry comedy

Beckham given TV comedy role

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is expected to make a cameo appearance on Matthew Perry's new US TV comedy Go On.

The former England captain, who will play himself in an episode, has already agreed to join up with the former Friends actor, who has claimed that he is also trying to sign up ex-tennis pro Jimmy Connors and ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

"We've talked to David Beckham and he said that he would do it, so that was very exciting," said Perry. "We have asked Wayne Gretzky. I'd love to have him on the show at some point.

"My favourite athlete of all time is Jimmy Connors, so, I guess my hope is that we get Jimmy Connors to come back and work with me again, which would be a dream come true."

Perry plays a sports broadcaster struggling to deal with life following the death of his wife.
