Belgium, Australia exchange pre-match Twitter banter

The official Twitter accounts for the Belgium and Australia national football teams have been locked in pre-match banter ahead of the two sides' international friendly later today.

The exchange began when the Belgian Red Devils account tweeted an image of the team's final training session before the match.

The Socceroos quickly responded, vowing to show the Belgian team "some #AussiePride", while reminding their opponents of their 2-1 win over Germany in 2011.

Tonight's hosts turned to their run at this summer's World Cup for a retort, responding: "Very impressive indeed. You remember what we did of the World Cup right? And that was just two months ago #quarterfinals."

The teams play at Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liege this evening.
